PDP Suspends Its National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, States Reason
The PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, has been suspended by the executive committee of the Igyorov ward of Gboko LGA, Ayu was suspended over his alleged antiparty activities that contributed to the loss of the PDP in his ward and local government during the guber election in the state The exco also accused Ayu of not voting during the March 18 election, and he has not been paying his dues as contained in the party's constitution. It was reported that the PDP national chairman suspended Ayu over alleged antiparty activities after the executives passed a vote of no confidence on him. Iyorchia Ayu Banger Dooyum, the secretary of the PDP at the Igyorov ward in Gboko LGA, said Ayu's anti-party activities were a major factor for the PDP to lose the national chairman's ward and local government during the last election.
Dooyum, while reading the ward exco's resolution, disclosed that Ayu and his allies did not vote during the March 18 governorship election in the state. The PDP also accused Ayu of not paying his annual dues as contained in the constitution of the party. The document that authenticated Ayu's suspension was signed by 12 out of the 17 executives of the party at Ayu's wards. The PDP not only lost at Ayu's ward and local government, but the ruling party in the state also lost the state guber election to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Father Hyacinth Alia.
