The National Examinations Council (NECO) rescheduled the 2023 entrance examination conducted for gifted and talented children, The examination body rescheduled the test from Saturday, May 13 to Saturday, June 10, 2023 following a request by some stakeholders. NECO said the registration of candidates will continue till the new date of the examination for the gifted and talented children. LAGOS: Gov Sanwo-Olu Approves Bumper Pay Rise for civil servants

  The newly re-elected governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved an increased pay rise for civil servants in Lagos state by 20 percent. As reported by The Nation, this development was disclosed on Monday, March 20, via a statement issued by the Lagos state head of service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola. Governor Sanwo-Olu pronounced the salary increment package for civil servants at the state secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, in October 2022. The statement reads: “ Furthermore, kindly note that the arrears for the month of January 2023 will be paid along with salaries for the month of March 2023 while the arrears for the month of February 2023 will be paid together with the salaries of April 2023. “This action further demonstrates this Administration’s commitment to Staff welfare. Amid the ongoing disparities over the circulation and usage of the old N200, N500, and N100 notes, Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu of Lagos state has issued a directive to close businesses and outlets that refuse to transact with the old currency. Recall that in a recent proceeding, the Supreme Court ruled that the old currency would remain legal for business and transactions until December 31. Governor Sanwo-Olu has urged Lagosians to report to the nearest Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) if any bank refuses to collect old naira notes.  Given this ruling, Governor Sanw-Olu, who is seeking a second term in office, has urged residents to go ahead and use the old naira notes for their daily transactions as ordered by the apex court. More Nigerian banks have started to dispense the old N500 and N1000 notes to their customers.
